Thoothukudi District Collector Senthilraj met the players of the Tamil Nadu women’s hockey team who are training at the artificial turf hockey ground in Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi district to play in the national level hockey tournament to be held in Manipur. He congratulated the athletes for training with confidence and setting a record in the competition. The 12th National Sub-Junior Women’s Hockey Championship will be held in Imphal, Manipur from May 11 to 22 next month. The training camp for the athletes representing Tamil Nadu has been held at the Artificial Lawn Hockey Ground owned by the Tamil Nadu Development Commission in Krishna Nagar, Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi District since the 17th.

The training camp runs until the 5th of next month. Head coach Anpalagan and assistant coach Rasna are training. The news bulletin was released as a special news bulletin on the 25th.

In order to encourage the trainees, Thoothukudi District Collector Senthilraj met the trainees in person and inquired about their training. He also congratulated them on winning the competition and asking them to train with confidence and achieve. He also took group photos with the athletes regularly. He then inquired about the facilities required for the sports dormitory attached to the artificial turf field.

A request was made on behalf of the Thoothukudi District Hockey Association to provide drinking water, electricity and cot facilities for students in the sports hostel. The District Collector assured that all necessary facilities for the ground and dormitory would be made available.

Following this, District Collector Senthilraj inspected the ongoing intellectual center work at Ramasamidas Park on behalf of Kovilpatti Municipality and the construction of a road to the Gandhinagar-Nadarajapuram cemetery. Kottatsiyar Sankaranarayanan, City Council Chairman K. Karunanidhi, Tashildar Susila, Social Welfare Scheme Tashildar Manikandan, Municipal Commissioner Rajaram and District Sports Officer Patrick were present.
