Nintendo launched Splatoon 3 for the Switch console

by time news

Nintendo today (Friday) launched the action game Splatoon 3, exclusive to the Switch console. It can be purchased directly from the Nintendo digital store installed on the console, or through chain stores for NIS 229 for a digital copy or NIS 249 for a physical copy for home delivery.

This is of course the sequel to Splatoon 2, which was released in 2017 for the Switch console, and turned Nintendo’s relatively young brand into one of the most popular competitive action games on the market. While in other shooting games the developers usually emphasize excessive violence, in Nintendo it is of course a game with a much friendlier atmosphere, a competition centered on paint guns where the goal is to “conquer” as large an area as possible by staining it with the color of the team they are playing.

The soft approach doesn’t mean that Splatoon games don’t stack. On the contrary, these are games with quite complex and deep mechanics, and the third game in the series adds additional layers to it through new weapons, locations and abilities.

In addition, Splatoon 3 features the longest and most extensive single-player campaign seen in the series to date. To play the multiplayer battles, which are ultimately the heart of the experience, a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online service is also required. This is still a cheap service compared to competitors, when an annual subscription is sold in the Israeli store for NIS 79 for 12 months, and also includes cloud backup for saved games and access to a library of classic games.
