Golden Sun It must be the most underserved RPG Nintendo has among its forgotten franchises. Its first installment, released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance, was developed by ‘Camelot Software Planning’, a Japanese studio that has been in charge of several sports games starring Mario such as ‘mario golf‘, ‘Mario Tennis‘ y ‘Mario Sports‘.

Its discreet passage through North America earned it a small community of followers that, although it was not compared to the large number of Japanese public that adored the game, at least Nintendo was encouraged to continue producing two more titles: ‘the lost age‘ (2002) y ‘dark dawn‘ (2010) which came exclusively for Nintendo DS.

Since that third installment, the Japanese firm seems to have completely forgotten about the IP, except for the occasional cameo of a character in games like Super Smash Bros. (where they obviously have a free card to place as many forgotten characters as they can find in their library).

Over the years, Western audiences have become more adored of Japanese culture and embraced it to the point that it was previously unimaginable that franchises like Fire Emblem would be too important to have a simultaneous release in Japan and the United States. Perhaps the time is right for Golden Sun to shine again, and we believe that Nintendo has already taken the ‘first step’ for it.

Is Golden Sun coming back?

In the last ‘Nintendo Direct’, the inclusion of ‘Game Boy Advance’ to Nintendo Switch Online was announced with great fanfare, with a list of titles much loved by the public that are now available to play. However, what also caught a lot of attention was the revelation of the next titles that will arrive, finding us with nothing less than Golden Sun.

That’s right, along with games like ‘Kirby & the Amazing Mirror’, ‘Fire Emblem’ and ‘F-Zero Maximum Velocity’, the Camelot video game will be present so that users have the opportunity to enjoy the adventures of Isaac.
