This year, three pioneers of attosecond physics will receive the Nobel Prize in Physics: the Frenchwoman Anne L’Huillier, the Frenchman Pierre Agostoni and the Hungarian-born Ferenc Krausz. Extremely fast processes in atoms, molecules and solids can now be directly observed.
