Not letting go: Lieberman will present a list of new decrees against the ultra-Orthodox sector

by time news

The Minister of Finance does not take his hands off the ultra-Orthodox sector, and repeatedly presents programs whose goal is one – to harm the Torah and observant sector, and try to get them out of the kollels and yeshivas.

A new plan by Finance Minister Yvette Lieberman, a plan against the ultra-Orthodox sector that Lieberman instructed the Ministry of Finance staff to formulate and prepare – will be presented tomorrow at a meeting of the socio-economic cabinet. According to Lieberman, this is a program designed to increase the percentage of ultra-Orthodox people in the labor market, but in practice the program will only harm the ultra-Orthodox sector. This was revealed tonight (Monday) in ‘News 13’.

According to the report, the plan will include the denial of funding for daycare and day care from non-working people, and the abolition of property tax rebates for non-working families. Additional details in the program will stipulate that students who teach Torah in yeshivot will have their weekly working hours cut from 40 to 20, without compromising their salary, in order to take them out of Torah study to work.

In addition, the program will provide economic incentives for Libya studies, and Lieberman will work to finally pass the draft law he put to a vote in the Knesset plenum, Defense Minister Bnei Gantz. .

As you may recall, Lieberman has previously tried to transfer the negative of the daycare subsidy to the families of students – but was stopped by the Supreme Court for the coming year. The Ministry of Finance intends to complete the enactment of those steps through the Knesset plenum in three readings, within a few months.

Lieberman formulated the plan against the background of the Central Bureau of Statistics’ forecast – a forecast that says that by 2065 the ultra-Orthodox sector will grow to one-third of the total population in Israel, and in recent years there has been a curb in the percentage of working ultra-Orthodox. A source in the Ministry of Finance claimed that “there is an attempt here to save the future of the economy.”

However, while Lieberman is interested in promoting the plan with all his might – it is precisely in the coalition that this is a ‘mine’. Among other things, the question arises as to whether the support of the leaders of the right-wing parties and new hope, Naftali Bennett and Gideon Saar, will be obtained, since they may want to maintain less tense relations with the ultra-Orthodox parties.
