More than 300,000 nurses are on strike in Britain demanding a pay rise. In the face of severe price hike, there is a demand for increase in wages. Nurses who are part of the National Health Service are going on strike at the end of the year under the leadership of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). It is the first time in the organization’s 106-year history that a strike has been decided through voting.
Salaries of National Health Service nurses have been cut by 20 per cent several times. By September, the nurses had to give up one-time meals for daily expenses. 25,000 nurses quit their jobs last year, the organization said.
The health sector in the country is facing a huge crisis as government investment has been drastically cut. The Rishi Sunak government is of the position that it cannot meet the demand as it will cause a huge financial burden.
