Killers of the Flower Moon Named Best Film of 2023 by New York Film Critics Circle

The New York Film Critics Circle has announced their winners for the best films and performances of 2023. Topping the list is “Killers of the Flower Moon,” directed by Martin Scorsese, which was named the best film of the year. In addition to the top honor, the movie also received the best actress award for star Lily Gladstone.

“Oppenheimer” and “May December” also received recognition from the NYFCC, with “Oppenheimer” winning best director for Christopher Nolan, as well as best cinematography, and “May December” picking up the best screenplay award and best supporting actor for Charles Melton.

Other winners include Franz Rogowski for best actor in “Passages,” Da’Vine Joy Randolph for best supporting actress in “The Holdovers,” and “The Boy and the Heron” for best animated film.

The NYFCC, which was founded in 1935, is made up of critics from various media outlets and meets annually to vote on awards for the previous year’s films. In addition to regular categories, the organization also gives special awards to individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the art of cinema.

The NYFCC award winners will be honored in New York in January.
