Bobcats Dominate MAC Championships wiht Top-Five Finishes and Four All-MAC Honors

the Ohio University Bobcats delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships in Buffalo, New york, on Saturday, November 1, securing top-five team finishes in both the men’s and women’s competitions and earning four individual All-MAC accolades. The women’s team achieved a second-place overall result with 62 points, while the men’s team finished fifth with a score of 103 points.
Women’s Team secures Silver
The Ohio women’s cross country team secured a silver medal at the MAC Championships, marking their best finish in recent history. Leading the charge was junior Jenna Harris, who finished third overall with a time of 20:35.1, and earning a coveted spot on the All-MAC First Team.
“Harris’s performance was a highlight of the day,” a team spokesperson stated.
Senior Leila Boussedra (Worthington, Ohio), senior Allie Martin (Kingwood, West Virginia), and junior Andrew Bracken (Westerville, ohio) all earned recognition on the All-MAC Second Team for their contributions.
Men’s Team Shows Grit and Determination
The Ohio men’s team showcased resilience, finishing fifth overall in a competitive field. Andrew Bracken spearheaded the Bobcats’ effort, crossing the finish line in ninth place with a time of 24:33.21. Sophomores Michael Dellasanta (Columbus, Ohio) and senior Sam Beeler (Cincinnati, Ohio) also delivered strong performances, finishing within the top 25. Dellasanta secured 18th place with a time of 24:56.1, while Beeler claimed 22nd place in 25:04.9.
Junior Nick Kennedy (Hurricane, West Virginia) and graduate student Connor Wertman (Uniontown, Ohio) further bolstered the team’s score, finishing 26th (25:11.5) and 28th (25:14.5, a personal record), respectively. The Bobcats completed the race with solid finishes from senior Alex Zuckett (Canton, Ohio) in 39th place (25:30.9), freshman Tate Ruthers (Thornville, Ohio) in 45th place (25:44.1), and junior Charlie Slates (Gahanna, Ohio) in 76th place (26:54.4).
Strong Individual Performances Highlight Women’s Race
Beyond Harris’s impressive showing, the Ohio women’s team benefited from strong individual performances. Seniors Leila Boussedra and Allie Martin finished consecutively, securing eighth (21:01.0) and ninth (21:02.2) places, respectively, and earning All-MAC honors. Senior Alyssa Mason (Dublin, Ohio) and sophomore Kaitlyn Stewart (Floyd Knobs, Indiana) also contributed to the team’s success, finishing 18th (21:21.6) and 22nd (21:22.8), respectively.
Sophomore Mairin O’Brien (Lewis Center, Ohio) and junior Eliza Quarrel (Plain City, Ohio) achieved consecutive finishes in 38th (21:55.2, a personal record) and 39th (21:56.6, a personal record) place. Graduate student Theresa hagey (Akron, Ohio) followed in 48th place (22:10.7), while sophomores Reece Savage (Johnstown, Ohio) and Ellie Greenwell (Park Hills, Kentucky) rounded out the Bobcats’ finishers in 52nd (22:16.2) and 53rd (22:17.8) place, respectively.
