Omari Hutchinson is traveling for medical examinations ahead of an initial loan move to AC Milan from Nottingham Forest. The deal, which includes a non-mandatory purchase option, follows a tactical shift under manager Oliver Glasner that left the winger on the sidelines at the City Ground.
AC Milan moved quickly in the transfer market to secure a replacement for Rafael Leao, who departed for Galatasaray in a sale valued between €43-45m plus €2m add-ons, alongside a 20-25 per cent cut of the future fee. The Rossoneri turned their attention toward Nottingham Forest and Omari Hutchinson, initiating contact with both the Premier League club and the player’s representatives. Gianluca Di Marzio and Mail Sport reported that an approach had been made to the Premier League side and the representatives of the 22-year-old winger. The 22-year-old winger has already touched down at Linate Airport and is scheduled to undergo his medical examinations at La Madonnina clinic on Monday morning or afternoon. The proposed transfer arrives at a critical juncture for the England U21 international, whose playing time dropped significantly following a managerial change at the City Ground.

Negotiations between the two clubs moved swiftly once the initial framework was established. According to The Athletic, the deal is structured as a paid loan worth €4 million, featuring a non-mandatory purchase option. This valuation contrasts sharply with the investment Nottingham Forest made just last summer when they brought the attacker to the club.
Nottingham Forest signed Hutchinson from Ipswich Town for €43.4m, securing his services on a long-term contract running until June 2030. That prior transaction established a club-record fee, making his departure on an initial loan arrangement a notable pivot for the Premier League side after a single season.
Tactical Shifts and the City Ground Exit
Hutchinson’s departure follows a frustrating campaign under a revolving door of managers. Oliver Glasner, who replaced Vitor Pereira this summer, favored a 3-4-2-1 formation that utilized narrow attacking midfielders rather than traditional wide men. During Forest’s recent 2-2 draw at Anfield, Glasner deployed Morgan Gibbs-White, Dan Ndoye, and Igor Jesus in those central creative roles.
