Omicron Subvariant XBB May Cause 4th Wave Of Covid | Soon the fourth wave of Covid! Scientists warn

by time news

New Delhi: Daily global COVID-19 infections are expected to rise to around 18.7 million by February. Scientists are warning that there is a high chance of a fourth wave of Covid soon. Omicron’s new variant XBB has caused this concern. The number of cases could slowly rise to 16.7 million, according to a University of Washington study.

In January 2022, the number of daily cases of Covid was the highest in the last winter. Currently, the new variant of the new Omicron will accelerate the spread of Covid-19 in the winter, but will not cause an increase in the number of deaths, according to the University of Washington Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).

It predicted that global daily deaths would average 2,748 on February 1, compared to the current Covid death toll of 1,660 daily.

IHME estimates that daily infections in the U.S. will increase by a third to more than a million, driven by indoor gatherings of students in schools and cold weather.

According to a Washington University report published on October 24, the number of corona cases in Germany has already reached its peak. By February, IHME expects the number of patients to drop by more than a third, from about 190,000.

The report suggests that the recent outbreak of Covid in Germany may be due to Omicron subtypes BQ.1 or BQ.1.1, and that it may spread to other parts of Europe in the coming weeks.

The number is said to be alarmingly high after the number of patients admitted to hospital after the outbreak of COVID in Germany in 2020.

IHME’s analysis shows that the new Omicron subtype XBB has increased the number of patients currently being hospitalized in Singapore. It is worth noting that the disease spreads more quickly but is less severe.

A University of Washington report said XBB’s global impact is expected to be muted because people previously infected with Omicron’s BA.5 sub-variant have built up immunity against it.
