The Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works confirmed today, Tuesday, the adoption of alternative roads in the locations of projects to relieve traffic congestion that witnessed congestion, while indicating the continuation of the first package projects and the development of solutions and strategies to end the problem of traffic congestion.

The Ministry’s spokesman, Istabraq Sabah, explained in a special statement to the (INA), that “projects to relieve congestion have doubled traffic congestion, especially in the areas where these projects are being implemented,” noting that “since the launch of these projects, the Ministry has begun to find alternative roads or side roads.” By removing some sidewalks and electricity poles to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in areas witnessing projects.”
He added, “During the next few months, more than one project will be launched, starting next month, as the second project to relieve traffic congestion in the capital, Baghdad, will be opened, which is the Cordoba Intersection Project,” noting, “The Army Canal Project will also be opened in the middle of this year.” By the end of this year, more than one project will be opened.”
He continued, “A second package of projects to remove bottlenecks will be launched later on the Karkh and Rusafa sides, and we are also awaiting the launch of the metro project that serves more than three million people in the capital, Baghdad, and with the projects to clear bottlenecks there will be integration in the transportation management process, and these are effective treatments and strategies.” It will contribute significantly to eliminating or reducing traffic congestion to the greatest extent possible.”
