Thiruvananthapuram – The tenure of officials in charge of land acquisition for the Silver Line project has been extended. The revenue department has also extended the tenure of the officers for one year. Special Deputy Collector and 11 Special Tehsildars will continue as per the order. The order has retrospective effect from August 18.
Through this, the government aims to continue the land acquisition process. The government had earlier said that the land required for the Silverline project would be acquired within two years. Even after a year has passed, not even the social impact study has been completed. The file related to this is in the revenue department.
The government had received legal advice that it could continue with the social impact study. On the basis of this, the order has been issued to extend the tenure of the officers amid indications that action will be taken soon.
