Organized with the High approval of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir Al Mouminine, President of the Foundation, this session is attended by presidents and members of sections of the Foundation in these African countries, in addition to members of the Superior Council of Ulema .
This three-day session will be marked by the presentation of the official report of the Foundation’s activities for the year 2022 and the summary of the 2023 activities, as well as the projects and activities scheduled for the year 2024 before their approval by the four permanent commissions of the Foundation: the Commissions for Scientific and Cultural Activities, Sharia Studies, Revitalization of African Islamic Heritage and Cooperation and Partnership.
This session will be sanctioned by a final communiqué from the meeting of the Superior Council of the Foundation and the recommendations which will emerge from the work of the four commissions.
On the sidelines of this session, the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema is organizing on Friday at the library of the Al Qaraouiyin Mosque, the ceremony of the official launch of the “Charter of African Ulema”, which constitutes the reference document establishing the doctrinal path. and serving the objectives of the Ulema of the foundation.
The program also includes the awards ceremony for the fourth edition of the Competition for memorization, recitation and chanting of the Holy Quran of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema, which took place from 10 to 12 Ramadan 1444 in Fez ( April 1/3, 2023).
The holding of this session is part of the continued implementation of the provisions of article 4 of Dahir n° 1.15.75 of 07 Ramadan 1436 (June 24, 2015), as amended, creating the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema.
This article particularly emphasizes the importance of unifying and coordinating the efforts of Muslim Ulema, in Morocco and in other African states, with a view to making the values of tolerant Islam known, disseminating them and consolidate them.
He also insists on the importance of taking any initiative to integrate the religious values of tolerance into any reform to which any development action in Africa is subject, whether at the continental level or at the level of each country, animate intellectual, scientific and cultural action in relation to the Muslim religion, to consolidate the historical relations which link Morocco to other African States and to ensure their development.
This article also highlights the imperative to ensure the revitalization of the common African Islamic cultural heritage, by making it known and working towards its dissemination, conservation and safeguarding.
The 5th ordinary session of the Superior Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Ulema is marked by the accession of 14 new sections representing Burundi, Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Cape Verde, Eswatini, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritius, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Sudan, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Foundation also has sections in South Africa, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, Congo, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana , Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Senegal , Somalia, Tanzania, Chad, Togo, Sao Tome and Sudan.
