A senior commentator claims: the strategy that will bring peace from the Gaza Strip

In Israel, senior officials said that the only principle of the cease-fire agreement is ‘peace will be answered by peace’ and this without additional conditions. On the other hand, the Islamic Jihad and Egypt claim that the agreement includes the introduction of fuel into the Gaza Strip and the release of two hunger-striking prisoners of the Jihad, Bassem al-Saadi and Khalil Awauda.

According to a part of the draft proposal published in Egypt, it is written that “as part of Egypt’s desire to end the current tensions in the Gaza Strip, Egypt has increased contacts with all parties in order to contain the current escalation, and in light of the contacts, Egypt is calling for a comprehensive and mutual cease-fire, starting from 7/ 8. Egypt is making efforts and is committed to working for the release of the al-Awada prisoners and is working for the release of Shall al-Saadi as soon as possible.”

The chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, said of the emerging agreement: “We welcome the Egyptian efforts that led to the cessation of the aggression of the occupation in Gaza.”

Also, the representative of the Islamic Jihad movement in Lebanon, Ihsan Attaya told the Lebanese “Al-Mayadeen” network that: “There will be no ceasefire if the occupation does not accept the conditions of the Islamic Jihad movement.” Earlier, Hamas officials said that they oppose escalation. Also, sources in Israel confirmed that negotiations are taking place with Hamas for a general ceasefire. This is a ceasefire that is not for humanitarian reasons, which the Islamic Jihad will be forced to accept, if indeed it is achieved.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Ram Ben Barakwith Golan Yokhpaz and Anat Davidov on 103FM and estimated when the military operation in the Gaza Strip should end.

At the beginning of his remarks, MK Ben Barak said: “I think the goals of the operation have been achieved. We did not declare war on Gaza. We saw a clear and immediate intention to harm the citizens of Israel and we went to foil this attack – while harming the couriers.”

After that, he contradicted the claims of opposition officials that the launch of the operation was a political event. MK Ben Barak emphasized that “in the end we thwarted an attack, that was the trigger. If the Islamic Jihad had not been prepared to carry out an attack this would not have happened. When you already hit and start a round, it gets longer.”

Knesset member Ben Barak added: “We reach out to anyone who has the intention of carrying out an attack – no matter where he is, and we make arrests everywhere. We have removed this threat from the agenda.” At the same time, he referred to the possibility that Hamas would also join the campaign, saying: “This is always taken into account and that’s why we also started recruiting reserve soldiers. We are backing up the forces in the enclave and are preparing for it,” he emphasized.

“We need to strive for a quick finish”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of the Economy, Yair Golanspoke this morning with Gadi Ness on radio 104.5FM and commented on the continuation of the fighting in Gaza: “I think it is necessary to step up and look at the campaign from a slightly different angle. Most of the operational achievements we wished for have been achieved, we need to strive for a quick end to the operation as possible, and see what political achievements can be achieved . If the operation does not end in a political achievement, it is another useless round. We must not be in this syndrome that the one who imposed it on us is Netanyahu.”

Deputy Minister Golan referred to the possibility that the Hamas organization would join the round of fighting, saying: “As the days go by, the chances of keeping Hamas out of the picture are diminishing, tremendous pressure is also being exerted on it. The most important thing is to say goodbye to the Palestinians. The operation was forced upon us, we had no choice but to act. Accepted A correct decision to carry out a pre-emptive attack and not wait for the jihad to dictate the development of events for us. The longer the operation continues, the more likely there will be a mistake or incident, we can find ourselves in a long campaign that no one wants.”

According to him, “If the last rocket is from Jihad, we need to bring it to a halt as quickly as possible. Cooperation with Egypt is important. We have enough with elections, we need to start discussing within the Israeli public where we want to go in the Palestinian arena. Never before has a prime minister had to A military past in order to make the right decisions. I don’t see any disadvantage here for Prime Minister Lapid.”

“The operation began as a foil to a terrorist attack, and I don’t think there is anyone in Israel who can say anything against it. The operation is justified and correct, now we need to show political maturity to know how to end it. This is not a decisive operation, so there is no room for a ground entry here. We need To make sure that not the extremists lead us but the moderates, calls on all Israeli citizens to show responsibility,” he concluded.
