Delhi: Ukraine rescue operation Operation Ganga continues. So far 710 Indians, including Malayalees, have returned in three flights. Malayalee students told Asianet News that action should be taken to open the Russian border and bring back the students trapped in the conflict areas. Everyone is relieved to have reached their homeland from the mountain of misery. Many of these students flew across the border carrying heavy loads on foot.

The students of the first flight, which arrived in Delhi this morning, were received by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan. The minister said the government was concerned about the safety of students. The returnees responded that action should be taken to repatriate those in conflict zones as soon as possible. Kerala House has other facilities for the Malayalees who have come to Delhi. Steps are being taken to repatriate the returnees as soon as possible. Meanwhile, two more special flights to Bucharest have been diverted from Delhi today.

Information on Student Contractors will be collected from returning students. Student contractors can help provide food and other facilities for students stranded in Ukraine. Venu Rajamani said that more such interventions will be made.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held discussions with Union External Affairs Minister S Jayashankar on the rescue mission of Indians, including Malayalees, stranded on the Ukrainian battlefield. The Chief Minister said that he was receiving many messages of distress from the Malayalees stranded in Ukraine. He said there was an urgent need for water and food for those taking refuge in bunkers in eastern Ukraine, such as Kiev, Kharkiv and Sumi. The Union Minister assured Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that all necessary facilities would be provided for the rescue mission and that the Central Government would extend all possible assistance to them till then.
