‘Operation transformation’: Andhra police burn 2 lakh kg of cannabis worth Rs 500 crore

VISAKHAPATNAM: Andhra Pradesh police have seized 2 lakh kg of cannabis worth Rs 500 crore. The move is part of a plan called ‘Operation Transformation’. The cannabis seized for the past two years was destroyed. The cannabis was burnt under the leadership of state police chief D Gautam Sawang. The disaster relief team and fire brigade had reached the spot.

‘Operation Transformation’ began on October 31 last year. The cannabis was seized from various places in Visakhapatnam, Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam districts. As part of the operation, 1,363 cases were registered and 1,500 people were arrested, including 562 from other states.
