The Vatican: Pope Francis recently criticized Russia’s attack on minorities during the war in Ukraine. The Vatican has apologized for the Pope’s comments.
In an interview last November, Pope Francis responded to a question about the Russia-Ukraine war, saying, “Russian soldiers are attacking a minority, the people of Ukraine. All the soldiers carrying out such attacks are definitely not from the Russian heritage.. Instead, they all belong to the Chechens and Buryats there,” he said.
The Pope’s comments were strongly opposed by Russia. It is in this context that the Vatican has issued a statement.
In a statement released by Bruni, Vatican spokesman, “Pope Francis criticized the attack by Russian soldiers on minorities and people in Ukraine during an interview in November. The Vatican is now apologizing for this.”
As Christmas approaches early, Pope Francis has appealed to “Christians to cut Christmas costs and help the victims of the war in Ukraine.”
