New Delhi: The Property Tax Department has ordered the inspectors posted in each zone to set up five camps each so that more and more people can come to the camps and pay their property tax. Keeping in view the possibility of any kind of fraud in setting up the camp, the head quarter has also ordered to send the video of the camp. Officials say that even though it seems impossible to meet the target of Rs 3,500 crore, they will try to reach last year’s target (2400 crore) by March 31. According to the information received from the Property Tax Department, till now Rs 11.62 lakh Property owners have paid their property tax. MCD has received Rs 1,887 crore as property tax. If seen accordingly, there is a shortfall of Rs 513 crore in achieving the target of Rs 2,400 crore. Last year, 13.29 lakh people had deposited property tax. According to these figures, about 1.67 lakh people have not paid their property tax yet. The Property Tax Department has now planned to activate its inspectors to recover property tax from such people. An inspector has been asked to set up at least five camps in his area.

How many camps are planned?

The official said that more than 150 inspectors of the Property Tax Department are deployed in 12 zones. In this way, around 600 camps can be set up within the next 15 days. Officials say that through the camps organized with the help of RWAs, Market Associations and Group Housing Societies of the area, this amount of money will definitely come, so that last year’s target can be easily reached. Therefore, the Property Tax Department has kept its offices open even on Saturdays and Sundays till March 31.
