The Korean envoy said he came to mark Seoul’s desire to strengthen its cooperation with Ouagadougou, which is more than 60 years old. “Our Government has a new vision for its diplomacy, it intends to get closer to Africa and Burkina Faso in particular, hence this first African outing in Ouagadougou” he indicated.

Hong JIN-WOOK recalled that his country has gone through troubled periods of war and poverty but today it has risen to be the tenth world power and seventh world exporter. The Korean government’s Special Representative for Africa then expressed his country’s readiness to share its experience with Burkina Faso and to support it in areas such as food security, digital transformation, education, health, among others.

“It is an outstretched hand that Burkina Faso welcomes”, declared Mrs. Sabine BAKYONO. She specifies that, faced with terrorist violence which has repercussions on its economy and its social development, Burkina Faso knows how to count on its friends and partners. Burkina Faso can only welcome the strengthening of its ties with South Korea, which is a fine example of resilience and development.

The two parties agreed on the need to create long-lasting consultation frameworks that will make it possible to energize and evaluate the collaboration. They were pleased with the quality of the relations between the two countries and soon the Ambassador of South Korea will present his credentials to the President of Faso.
