Other reports suggest that tight security arrangements have been made there, as is usual whenever foreign teams visit Pakistan of late. The Pakistan Cricket Board is confident that things will go smoothly as international cricket has returned to the country only a few years ago, and any security threat will further affect their plans to hold domestic bilateral series within the country. The incident comes against the backdrop of a protest by the PCB after questions were raised about India’s participation in the Asia Cup if it is held in Pakistan next year.

Pakistan has also been awarded the right to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. As far as the series is concerned, in the opening Test in Rawalpindi, England cruised to a famous victory as they beat Pakistan by 74 runs on the pitch after a brilliant display from captain Ben Stokes. The defeat dealt a major setback to Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the finals of next year’s World Test Championship series.
