High Point University Soccer Dominates TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Rankings
High Point University men’s soccer concluded a historic season with six players earning recognition on the TopDrawerSoccer (TDS) Postseason Top 100 lists, signaling a new era for the program. The accolades, announced after the NCAA College Cup, highlight the Panthers’ impressive run to the Sweet Sixteen and a program-best 14-2-4 record in 2025.
National Rankings
Leading the charge is Paulo Luguo, who surged to No. 4 after being ranked No. 31 in the midseason list. The transfer from North Carolina promptly impacted the Panthers’ offense, starting 19 of 20 games and delivering a team and conference-leading 33 points through 14 goals and five assists in 1,191 minutes played. Luguo also set a new program record with seven game-winning goals in a single season.His remarkable performance culminated in being selected as the second-highest draft pick by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first round with the 29th overall pick on December 18.
Luguo’s impressive list of accolades includes Big South offensive Player of the Year, Big South Newcomer of the Year, Big South Tournament MVP, Big South First Team honors, a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List, a TDS Player of the Year Finalist selection, and recognition as a member of the TDS Best XI First Team.
Joining Luguo on the National Top 100 list are Lukas Kamrath (No. 50), Jefferson Amaya (No. 55), and Brendan Krueger (No. 93). Kamrath, a transfer from Notre Dame in 2024, has been a defensive stalwart for the Panthers, contributing to 16 clean sheets in nearly 3,000 minutes of play. He earned Big south Defensive Player of the Year honors and was featured on SportsCenter for a remarkable header save against top-ranked Marshall in 2025.
Amaya caps off a decorated collegiate career as the No. 55 player nationally. He made history as the first player in college soccer to win a different major award in four consecutive seasons: Big South Freshman of the Year (2022), Big South Offensive Player of the Year (2023), Big South Defensive Player of the Year (2024), and Big South Midfielder of the Year (2025).He also secured four straight United Soccer Coaches All-South Region and Big South First Team All-Conference selections, alongside three CSC Academic All-District honors. Amaya was drafted by Real Salt lake in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft with the 42nd overall pick on December 18.
Krueger, a consistent performer for the Panthers, started in 54 of his 61 appearances, contributing 13 goals and 21 assists. He earned Big South Midfielder of the Year honors in 2024 and received United Soccer Coaches All-South Region recognition.
Freshman Duo Earns Top 70 Recognition
the future of High Point soccer also looks radiant, with Roman Holt (no. 5) and Prosper Adagani (No. 69) earning spots on the TDS Postseason Freshman Top 100 List.Holt,a redshirt freshman defender,started all 20 games,logging 1,720 minutes and contributing to 10 clean sheets. He earned Big South All-Freshman Team honors and was named to the TDS Freshman Best XI, improving from a no. 13 ranking in the midseason list.
Adagani, a Ghanaian forward, made an immediate impact off the bench, scoring six goals – including two braces – and adding two assists in 718 minutes. He was named Big South Freshman of the Year and earned All-Freshman Team honors.
These six players were integral to High Point’s historic 2025 season, which included the program’s highest-ever NCAA Tournament seed (No. 10) and a first-round victory over West Virginia (3-2) – marking the program’s first Round of 32 win and sweet Sixteen appearance. Amaya and Krueger were also part of the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament win, a 2-0 victory over North Carolina in 2022.
