Partnerships: Rabat bets on new axes

by time news

Throughout the past two decades, Moroccan diplomacy has worked to open up new horizons by expanding its portfolio of partners. Today, the Kingdom seems to be consolidating three new, defining alliances.

There are of course these classic partners. His neighbors on the other side of the Mediterranean with whom we go from idyll to couple scenes. There are also these Arab and Gulf brothers. These countries with which we share causes for which we never count. There is also this sub-Saharan roots. These regions of our continent with which we consolidate win-win relationships. There is still this American power. This Uncle Sam who respects us as a reliable ally. There are also these other powers. This Russia which is going to war and this China on the lookout for any opportunity…
Listing the Kingdom’s partners would be like going around the world with a guide to the proper conduct of Cherifian diplomacy. Morocco, in history as in the present, has always had a diplomatic influence which has reached its firmament in recent decades. An open, welcoming, stable country… which even makes an exception when spring takes on a wintery turn for regimes that are out of phase with the expectations of their citizens. But also a country that offers so many opportunities through its significant reservoir of resources and skills, as well as through its positioning as a geopolitical hub, at the node of a network linking the four cardinal points.
Its assets, its specificities, its flaws… Morocco is becoming more and more aware of this. And under the enlightened leadership of a daring and insightful Sovereign, the Kingdom’s diplomatic line has become more frank, clearer, more effective. It distinguishes between subjugated alliances and equitable partnerships. Something to cringe at those who confuse diplomacy and hypocrisy.
The assets of the Kingdom open up new horizons for it to strengthen new associations that take into account the challenges of the future. With Brazil as a gateway, the Kingdom is increasingly opening up to a rapidly changing South American continent. With Great Britain, it reaffirms its relations which go beyond the simple (but so complex) framework of the European Union. And with Israel, it confirms its status as a country of peace and tolerance; open country, pragmatic, symbol of living together.
With these new partnerships, currently being consolidated, Rabat demonstrates its capital of trust. Its predisposition to build solid, profitable, but also fair alliances. Overview of the axes of cooperation with the new partners of the Kingdom.
