Qatar’s General Civil Aviation Authority announced on Monday that it expects to double the number of passengers passing through its airports this year to 36 million. The increase is expected thanks to the holding of the World Cup in the country in November-December this year.

In its announcement yesterday, the Authority stated that for its part there are two scenarios for passenger traffic forecasts, one of which is moderate, with 34 million passengers through 2022, ie a growth of 90% compared to last year. The second forecast is that the number of passengers is expected to rise to 36 million this year, a growth of 105% compared to 2021.

The Authority anticipates that the number of passenger flights through Hemed and Doha International Airports, during the World Cup tournament (November 21 to December 18, 2022), will increase to 28,000 scheduled and charter flights. The number of arrivals, departures and transit during the coming November is expected to be between 3.5 million and 4.1 million passengers, with the number expected to rise in the range of 3.6 – 4.7 million passengers in December.
