Patrick Buisson, essayist, journalist and political advisor, notably to Nicolas Sarkozy between 2007 and 2012, died at the age of 74, confirming information from Figaro. He was found this Tuesday morning, at his home in Les Sables-d’Olonne (Vendée), Le Parisien learned.

Patrick Buisson has long defended the union of the rights. He had notably pleaded for an alliance between the FN, the RPR and the UDF. Advisor to Nicolas Sarkozy, he is behind the creation of a ministry of Immigration and national identity. “Patrick is the one to whom I owe more than anyone else,” said the former President of the Republic, when he presented him with the Legion of Honor in September 2007.

In the 1980s, Patrick Buisson joined the far-right newspaper Minute as a journalist, before becoming its editor-in-chief in 1986. He then took the helm of Current Values, before joining LCI. In 2007, he took over as director of the History channel.

Last April, he released his latest work, “Décadanse”, a political-historical analysis of the evolution of society over more than half a century.
