Marist Swimming & Diving Concludes Strong Showing at 2025 Patriot invitational

Marist College’s men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the 2025 Patriot Invitational this past weekend, demonstrating meaningful progress with numerous finalists, impressive diving performances, and consistent improvements in race times across the board. The invitational served as a key benchmark for the Red Foxes as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Women’s Team Shines with Butterfly Performances

In the pool, Sabrina Conrad delivered a standout performance, finishing sixth in the A-final of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.03. conrad continued her success later in the meet, winning the B-final of the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.83, ultimately placing ninth overall. Her versatility and speed proved crucial for Marist’s overall score.

Freshman Mikayla Rapuano also made an immediate impact, placing 13th in the 100-yard fly (57.25) and 15th in the 200-yard fly (2:09.00), contributing points in both events. Sprint specialist Anna Kirby reached the B-final of the 100-yard backstroke (14th, 57.25) and demonstrated consistent results in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.

The 100-yard backstroke proved notably strong for Marist,with five swimmers scoring: Elie Kauffman (7th,56.99), Kirby (14th), Genevieve O’neil (18th), Lauren Castellani (21st), and Milena Judge (22nd). Distance swimmer Colt Sears earned a ninth-place finish in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 16:22.04 and leading the men’s distance corps.

Men’s Team Sees Success with Dropic’s Performance

The highest individual placement for the Marist men’s team came in the 200-yard butterfly, where freshman Ty Dropic advanced to the championship final and finished fifth with a time of 1:50.56. This performance highlights the promising talent emerging within the men’s program.

Ethan Gibbs represented Marist well in diving, reaching the finals on the 1-metre board and finishing 16th with a score of 218.65.The Red Foxes also saw multiple scoring swims throughout the meet, including strong showings in the men’s 200-yard individual medley, where Hunter Emerson, Dylan Magda, and Kris Flores all finished in the top 24.

Sprint and relay Efforts Round Out Competition

The sprint group, featuring Matthew McManus, Dane Dillenback, and Jake Mercer, posted competitive times in the 50-yard freestyle, with Dillenback scoring in the C-final (21.32). In the relays, Marist demonstrated competitive efforts in both the men’s and women’s 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard medley relays. The men’s B-relay team achieved a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:26.22),comprised of Lucas Silva,Dane Dillenback,Kris Flores,and Ben turley.

Looking Ahead

Marist will return to dual-meet action next month before setting its sights on the 2026 MAAC Championships. The team’s performance at the Patriot Invitational provides a solid foundation for continued success as they approach the championship season.
