American University field hockey swept the Patriot League weekly awards on Monday, securing four of the five accolades presented by Credit Union 1. Boston University was the lone other program recognized, earning one weekly honor.

League Standings Reflect American’s Strength

As of October 6, the Patriot League standings showcase American University’s strong start to the season. The Eagles currently hold a perfect 3-0 record in League play and a 6-4 overall record. Lafayette and Bucknell follow closely behind with 2-1 League records, while Boston University also sits at 2-1.

Eagles Soar with Offensive and Defensive Prowess

Jordan Reicher Named Offensive Player of the Week

American junior forward Jordan Reicher was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar week that saw her score three goals across victories against Lafayette (3-1) and Villanova (3-0). Reicher’s performance included a crucial third goal in the Eagles’ rematch win against the Leopards, the 2024 Patriot League Championship contenders, and a two-goal first half against Villanova.

Agustina Roffo Continues Midfielder Dominance

Graduate student Agustina Roffo earned her third Patriot League Field Hockey Midfielder of the Week honor this season. Roffo tallied three points – one goal and one assist – in American’s 3-1 triumph over Lafayette, opening the scoring and assisting on another goal. She also contributed to the Eagles’ shutout victory against Villanova.

Lotti Sume Shines on Defense

Freshman Lotti Sume was recognized as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her collegiate career. Sume played every minute along the backline during American’s wins, helping the team concede only one goal throughout the week. She also assisted on the Eagles’ first goal against Lafayette and played a key role in securing their fourth shutout of the season against Villanova.

Pauline Gineste Anchors Goalkeeping

Senior Pauline Gineste earned her first Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition, boasting an impressive .833 save percentage and .750 goals-against average across the two wins. Gineste recorded three saves in the victory over Lafayette and two saves in the shutout against Villanova.

Boston University’s Driscoll Earns Rookie Recognition

Molly Driscoll Honored as Rookie of the Week

Boston University freshman forward Molly Driscoll was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Rookie of the Week after a three-point performance in the Terriers’ 4-1 win over Lehigh. Driscoll scored the game-winning goal in the third quarter, breaking a 1-1 tie, and also assisted on the goal that leveled the score in the first quarter.

Honorable Mentions Highlight League Talent

Several other student-athletes received honorable mentions for their performances last week, including Boston University’s Shea Freda and Caroline O’Brien, Bucknell’s Sarah Althouse, Kira Leclercq, and Nicky Punt, and Lafayette’s Lena Thedrian.

The Patriot League field hockey players of the week are determined by a vote of League head coaches, who are ineligible to vote for their own student-athletes. The League’s commitment to recognizing outstanding individual performances underscores the high level of competition within the conference.
