Paysandu has 100% success rate within Pará, but away matches have been an obstacle

by time news

The 100% success rate in Belém (PA) does not reflect Paysandu’s bitter situation when the game is away from home. The bicolor has not yet won when playing outside of Pará.

In three matches playing as a visitor, Paysandu lost two and drew one. This below-expected performance cost them a place in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil and left the team at a disadvantage in the quarterfinals of the Copa Verde.

To begin with, in the first phase of the Copa do Brasil, Papão ended in a goalless draw with Ji-Paraná – a team without a division – at the Biancão Stadium (RO). In the next phase, they lost to Juventude 3-1, at Alfredo Jaconi, and eliminated Hélio dos Anjos’ team from the Copa do Brasil.

Playing at Arena da Amazônia, in the quarter-finals of the Copa Verde, Paysandu was defeated by Manaus, a team that will compete in Série D this season. Paysandu scored just one goal in these games played outside Belém and had the net scored four times.
