Pedro Nuno Santos received 203 thousand euros in travel allowance, despite having a house in Lisbon – Economy

by time news

The candidate, and general secretary of the Socialist Party, for the legislative elections, Pedro Nuno Santos, received, for nine years, between 2005 and 2015, 203 thousand euros in travel allowance, despite having a house in Lisbon.

Pedro Nuno Santos was a deputy for the PS and throughout this period he owned an apartment on Rua Marcos Portugal, in the capital. However, when filling out your details on the Assembly of the Republic form you always indicated that your address was in São João da Madeira, which had implications for the payment of travel allowances (a salary compensation for deputies who reside outside of Lisbon) and subsistence allowances, reports Sábado.

Pedro Nuno Santos admits that, at the time he was a deputy, he actually lived in this house in the capital (“It was my first permanent home in Lisbon”), but denies that it was my main one: “My usual residence, until the moment I I joined the Government at the end of 2015, it was always in São João da Madeira.”
