The National Election Jury (JNE) of Peru has accepted the registration of three political parties with names alluding to the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, reported the Lima newspaper El Comercio.

Although in the Andean country it is prohibited for political groups to make direct or express mention of a natural person, acronyms are permitted.

The media accessed the JNE’s registry of form requests and name reservations from December 2019 to April 2024, in which it found the three groups declared appropriate.

Looking ahead to the next general elections, scheduled for 2026, these new parties must still meet a series of requirements for final registration.

The popular Central American president has gained followers in almost the entire continent and Peru has been one of the nations with the most interactions, amid a rise in citizen insecurity.
