Peru vs Nicaragua: the ‘everyone’s team’ beat the ‘pinoleros’ 2-0 on Friday, March 22, in an international friendly match on FIFA date. This confrontation took place at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium or better known as Matute, located in the La Victoria district.
With goals from Joao Grimaldo (2′) and Gianluca Lapadula (13′), thanks to two assists from Andy Polo, the ‘bicolor’ achieved its first victory after seven straight games without winning. The last victory was against South Korea in June 2023.
The clash marked the debut of coach Jorge Fosatti with the Peruvian team and of footballers Erick Noriega and Oliver Sonne. The Peruvian-Danish was requested by the fans and entered at 58′ of the duel in which he showed off with a cue and ‘huacha’ at a rival, and left good impressions. In addition, defender Alexander Callens had a goal disallowed for offside.
Peru will face the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, March 26 from 8:30 p.m. local time in their second friendly on this month’s FIFA date. The match will be played at the Monumental de Ate stadium. Nicaragua will face Cuba on the same day at the National Stadium in Managua.
