by time news

The Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP) has strongly condemned the Peshawar suicide bombing that killed 56 people. The attack targeted Shia believers. The HRCP said in a statement that the face of the sectarian organizations in the recent past was evident in the blasts.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a Shi’ite mosque in northwestern Pakistan. The incident took place at around 1pm, during Friday prayers. At least 56 people were killed and at least 200 were injured. Local hospital officials confirmed that the condition of some of the injured was serious.

According to media reports, two men opened fire on police. Officials described the incident as a suicide attack and initially said two attackers were involved. A man dressed in black was seen climbing into a mosque in Khissa Kwani Bazaar, according to CCTV footage released later.

The commission expressed its condolences to all those who lost family and friends in the attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the blast. Authorities are investigating the case as a terrorist attack by Islamic militants.
