Kadayam Panchayat Union South Madathur areas are mainly agriculture and beedi spinning industry. In this case, 2 TASMAC shops are already operating at a distance of 2.5 kilometers from South Madathur panchayat in Pottalputur panchayat area and 2 kilometers in Venkatampatti panchayat area to the north of the town.
In this case, arrangements are being made to set up a new 3rd Tasmac store in South Madathur village. It is said that related work is also ongoing. So if a new Tasmac store is set up in South Madathur area, the livelihood of common people will be affected. There will be a situation where all the students will go to schools and colleges from the South Madathur area on the new Tasmac road in the area on bicycles and vehicles.
Also, since schools and colleges are functioning within 500 km from the area where the Tasmac shop is located, there will be law and order problems due to people consuming alcohol. Therefore, South Madathur panchayat council vice president and Congress executive Sivakumar and youths from the area Ashok, Raja Arunachalam, Murugesan, Mariselvam and Tamilarasan filed a petition at the South Kasi Collector’s office saying that the newly established Tasmac shop should not be allowed to open in South Madathur area. If immediate action is not taken in this regard, school and college students and public will gather and hold a demonstration, they said.
