BOLZANO. The Technical Director of the national teams Antonio La Torre has communicated the list of those called up for the Tokyo Olympic Games, scheduled from 30 July to 8 August. Petra Nardelli from South Tyrol is also part of the Italian team.

76 blues have been selected, 41 men and 35 women, the highest number ever at the Olympics for Italian athletics. The 400-year-old Petra Nardelli of Südtirol Team Club will also be called up. The 25-year-old from Ega will be part of the women’s 4×400 relay. The blue women qualified for both the 4×400 and the mixed 4×400. In addition to Nardelli, in Tokyo there will also be Rebecca Borga, Benedicta Chigbolu, Ayomide Folorunso, Raphaela Lukudo, Alice Mangione, Anna Polinari and Giancarla Dimich Trevisan.

Nardelli has just returned from an amazing first part of the season. This year the South Tyrolean has already been called up for the World Relays in Chorzow, a world event dedicated to relay races, and for the European team championships, also in Poland. Last weekend, on the occasion of the Absolute Italian Championships in Rovereto, Nardelli finished the 400m in fifth place. Nardelli boasts a personal of 53.19 seconds, established this season in Bolzano.
