Phase 2 of the Asphalting project starts on Thursday May 2, 2024. In total, 06 municipalities are affected by this new phase. These are Cotonou, Abomey-calavi, Djougou, Porto-novo and Parakou. This second phase will result in the development of 181 km of roads, the construction of 300 km of drainage gutters, the planting of 24,000 trees and the installation of 12,000 street lights. The government’s objective through this asphalting project is to improve traffic conditions, household access to equipment, renovate the main residential and activity areas, reduce pollution levels and revitalize the local economies. Phase A of this project enabled the development of 199 km of roads primary, secondary and tertiary, the construction of 410 km of rainwater drainage channels, the planting of 21,000 trees and the alignment of 13,000 photovoltaic solar street lights in 09 beneficiary municipalities namely, Cotonou, Abomey-Calavi, Porto-Novo , Parakou, Abomey, Bohicon, Lokossa, Sèmè-Podji and Natitingou.
