Pierre Palmade accident: justice orders the humorist to be remanded in custody

by time news

Pierre Palmade will have to leave the hospital for prison. The investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal on Monday overturned the decision of the Melun court to place the comedian under house arrest under electronic surveillance. As a result, the latter was placed in pre-trial detention, a decision accompanied by a warrant.

The house arrest of Pierre Palmade was disputed, after the dramatic accident that the comedian caused under the influence of cocaine, on February 10 in Seine-et-Marne. The Melun prosecution, which had requested his placement in pre-trial detention, had appealed. Pierre Palmade, indicted for “homicide and involuntary injuries”, had also suffered a stroke on Saturday at the end of the day, a health accident which one would have thought would have an impact on the decision of justice. .

But the court of appeal ruled that his state of health was not incompatible with detention. The investigating chamber “reversed the decision which had been appealed, ordered the provisional detention of Pierre Palmade and issued a warrant of committal”, indicates the Attorney General of the Republic. “The implementation of this mandate now falls within the competence of the public prosecutor at the Melun judicial court, to which it will be transmitted accompanied by the immediately enforceable decision”, he adds in a press release.

The hearing originally opened on Friday, in the absence of Pierre Palmade, but the court finally reserved its decision on Monday, at 11:30 a.m.

The driver and his son still in serious condition

More than a week ago, the judge of freedoms and detention of the judicial court of Melun had decided that the actor should be taken care of in the addiction service of the Paul-Brousse hospital, in Val- de-Marne, under an electronic bracelet.

On Friday February 10, on a departmental road in Seine-et-Marne, the comedian, who tested positive for cocaine, was driving a car which hit another vehicle. In addition to the actor, the accident caused three serious injuries: a man, his son and his pregnant sister-in-law, who lost her baby.

According to the latest information on their state of health communicated by the prosecution last week, the 38-year-old driver and his 6-year-old son are still hospitalized in intensive care in serious condition. The 27-year-old woman, who was six and a half months pregnant before the loss of her child, is on her way out of the woods.

Another investigation for possession of child pornography images

After 48 hours in police custody, Pierre Palmade, struggling for years with serious addiction problems, had been indicted for homicide and involuntary injuries by driver having used narcotics in a state of legal recidivism. In this case, two men aged 33 and 34 were placed under the status of assisted witness for “failure to assist a person in danger”. They were in Pierre Palmade’s Peugeot 3008 when it collided with a Renault Mégane arriving opposite, on the D372, south of Seine-et-Marne.

Before the investigating judge, they had confirmed that they had fled before the arrival of help and that they had consumed narcotics, according to the Melun prosecutor’s office.

Since then, Pierre Palmade has also been the subject of an investigation for possession of child pornography images after a report was made to the police. The comedian’s home was searched on Sunday. Two men were heard by investigators from the Minors Protection Brigade, which also operates video equipment.
