Stunning Ocean Photography Collection Launches 2025 Book Edition
A new collection of breathtaking underwater photography, culminating in the 2025 Ocean Photographer of the Year book, is now available for purchase. The luxury edition, bound in black fabric with embossed lettering, showcases the work of this year’s winners and finalists, offering a captivating glimpse into the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems.

A Year of Exceptional Imagery
The collection features a standout image by Yury Ivanov, capturing two amphipods in striking symmetry, which earned him the title of Ocean Photographer of the Year. Beyond the overall winner, the book highlights a diverse range of compelling photographs, celebrating the artistry and dedication of ocean photographers worldwide.
Among the highly commended images is a dynamic photograph by Romain Barats, depicting gentoo penguins “torpedoing” through the icy waters of Antarctica. This marks the first time Barats has been recognized as a finalist in the competition, with three of his images earning accolades this year.
Braving the Elements for the Perfect Shot
Barats expressed his delight at having his work featured on the cover of the 2025 book. “Gentoo penguins are clumsy on land, but as soon as they enter the water, they become like torpedoes,” he explained. He further detailed the challenges of capturing the image, noting the need to endure near-freezing temperatures while documenting the penguins’ agility and vulnerability to predators like the leopard seal.
“Capturing this image meant being in zero-degree water with them,” Barats said. “But when you witness a scene like this, you quickly forget about the cold. Having this moment featured on the cover of the 2025 book is a massive honour, particularly when any single image inside it could so easily have taken that place.”
