Google Rolls Out December 2025 Pixel Update, Squashing 33 Bugs and Boosting System Stability

The December software update for Google Pixel devices, released in December 2025, addresses a substantial number of bugs – a total of 33 – alongside the introduction of Android 16 and 79 security vulnerability patches. This comprehensive update focuses on enhancing system stability and performance across the Pixel range, from the Pixel 6 to the latest Pixel 10.

Broad System Improvements for All Compatible Pixels

The update delivers fixes impacting all Pixel models receiving the December 2025 software. Users will notice improvements to core functionality, particularly regarding battery management. According to a company release, two long-standing battery bugs have been resolved: one displaying an empty or question mark icon in the status bar, and another ensuring the 80% charge limit setting functions as intended.

Beyond battery concerns, Google has addressed issues with Bluetooth connectivity with certain devices and improved the responsiveness of the Always-On Display unlocking feature. A senior official stated that the company has also focused on refining the overall user experience, with stability enhancements implemented across approximately ten different areas, including picture-in-picture mode, the on-screen keyboard, Google Home controls, notification sound alerts, and gesture navigation.

Targeted Fixes for Newer Pixel Generations

The Pixel 8 series receives a dedicated patch aimed at improving Wi-Fi stability and performance “under certain conditions.” This suggests Google has identified and addressed specific network-related issues impacting this generation.

Owners of the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 will benefit from fixes addressing frustrating issues like failed fingerprint unlocking, intermittent screen freezes, and instances of display corruption or audio crashes. Google also confirmed improvements to camera stability on these devices.

Notably, the Pixel 10 receives additional attention for display-related problems, including flickering panels, black screens, brightness inconsistencies, and complete display lockups. A company release also noted that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold experienced similar issues when launching games, which have now been resolved.

Critical Emergency Call Fix for Pixel 6

Perhaps the most crucial fix in the December 2025 update is reserved for the Pixel 6. Google has addressed a serious issue causing “instability and intermittent malfunctions of the emergency call functionality.” This repair is particularly welcome, ensuring the reliability of a vital safety feature for users of the older device.

How to Install the December 2025 Update

Pixel users can install the update by navigating to the Settings application, selecting System, and tapping Software updates. The update will then download and install, bringing with it the latest features, security enhancements, and bug fixes.
