Berlin – I recently received a letter to the editor for which I am very grateful. Denner led me back to an old love that I thought was lost. The reader wrote to me about Doris Burneleit, a “well-deserved restaurateur and cook who has been innovative for decades and unshakable in the period before and after the fall of the city”. Of course I knew Doris Burneleit. She was the owner and soul of the paparazzi, which is known to everyone who has lived in Prenzlauer Berg for as long as I have. The paparazzi – I think it can stay that way – was the first and for a long time the only serious Italian in the neighborhood.
