Doha – The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has intensified inspections in food establishments as part of controlling the use of plastic bags. An inspection was conducted to ensure that single-use plastic bags are not used in various food establishments in Al Rayyan Municipality. Use of degradable paper, woven and cloth bags is permitted. This is part of the implementation of Ministerial Resolution No. 143 of 2022 regarding restrictions on the use of plastic bags.
Single-use plastic bags were banned from the 15th of this month. Several awareness campaigns have been active since the ban was announced last June.
