The Ministry of Urban Planning, Land Affairs and Housing organized a workshop on appropriation of the law on real estate promotion in Burkina Faso and its implementing texts with stakeholders in the field. Previously approved real estate developers, former housing cooperatives, as well as economic operators and investors wishing to carry out real estate development activity in the new legal environment and technicians from the Ministry of Urban Planning are the participants in this workshop which should last four days.

Nobody is supposed to ignore the law. It is with this maxim that the Ministry of Town Planning, Land Affairs and Housing organized a workshop for the benefit of stakeholders in its field. This workshop was opened on November 8, 2023. The objective being to shed light on the new texts and decrees governing the real estate sector in Burkina Faso.
“The new legislation on real estate development includes major innovations ranging from the constitution of the legal entity that can carry out the real estate development activity to the product that it must present, including the specifications to be observed.

It must be admitted that good practice in real estate development requires perfect mastery of all the texts which organize the activity,” described Gueswendé Marc Ouédraogo, Secretary General of the Ministry in charge of town planning.
He indicated that in order to popularize this new legislation, it seemed appropriate to discuss with people interested in the real estate activity. This, “to standardize knowledge and understanding in order to ensure successful implementation of this legislation”, he specified.

According to Gueswendé Marc Ouédraogo, for four days, the participants will familiarize themselves with the legislation on real estate development, have explanations on the content of law n°008-2023/ALT of June 20, 2023 on real estate development in Burkina Faso; on the content of the implementing texts of law n°008-2023/ALT of June 20, 2023 relating to real estate promotion in Burkina Faso; improve their knowledge of future real estate developers on the provisions of law n°008-2023/ALT of June 20, 2023 on real estate promotion in Burkina Faso and its implementing texts.

The SG assured that the ministry in charge of town planning and the former real estate developers have buried the hatchet precisely with regard to the application of this new legislation. “Today everyone is looking in the same direction.
The proof was given with the national workshop for validating application texts which we spoke about earlier, where real estate developers were widely represented and gave their contributions. Some of their proposals were taken into account to their satisfaction,” assured Gueswendé Marc Ouédraogo in conclusion.
