Sony is announcing the affordable PS5 Slim console at a presentation later this summer. A well-known insider under the nickname Shpeshal_Nick stated this on his Twitter, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
The author drew attention to the message of another well-known insider under the nickname The Snitch, who published a message with the text “P x S”. Shpeshal_Nick explained that his colleague could hint at the disclosure of the timing of the release of the new Sony set-top box.
The blogger said that Sony will hold a special presentation in August. The event should introduce the PlayStation 5 Slim, a simplified console based on the flagship PS5 set-top box, released in November 2020.
At the same time, Shpeshal_Nick noted that Sony usually holds such events in September, but for unknown reasons, the company decided to postpone the presentation. The insider suggested that in this way Sony will try to distract gamers from the situation with the purchase of Activision Blizzard by their main competitor Microsoft.
In early July, a possible release of the available version of the PS5 console before the end of 2023 was reported to Microsoft. The documents disclosed by the court mentioned that the PlayStation 5 Slim should be available before the end of 2023.
