Pollution free boogie … Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board appeals to the public

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has asked the public to celebrate the Boogie Festival without pollution as the Boogie Festival will be celebrated across Tamil Nadu tomorrow.

In a press release issued on this occasion, on the eve of Pongal festival, our ancestors have been celebrating the Bogi festival on the basis of old passing and new arrival. They have been burning old items made from natural materials. Thus the air was not polluted and was not harmful to the environment.

But today, during the Bogi festival, cloths made of plastic and synthetic fibers, rubber products, old tires and tubes, paper and chemical products are burnt. Combustion of such toxic substances causes air pollution and exposure to secondhand smoke, toxic gases, respiratory diseases, coughs and lung infections, and eye and nose irritations to the general public.

In the city of Chennai in particular, the smoke from the above-mentioned toxic substances burned on boogie causes a lot of trouble for motorists and accidents.
