It is reported that no one is ready to take up the Telugu version of last year’s biggest hit film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ for distribution in Tamil cinema. Ponniyin Selvan 1 performed very poorly in theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is said that the distributors are reluctant to show serious interest in the second part of the film.
Ponniyin Selvan 1 TV premiere in Telugu also got lukewarm response. The premiere got only 2.17 TRP rating for the television premiere. But it is reported that the makers of the film, Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies are trying to find distributors.
Ponniyin Selvan earned 125 crores in the first week of its release in Tamil Nadu alone. And the film has grossed over Rs 500 crore worldwide. Directed by Mani Ratnam, the film has music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Ravi Varman. Vikram, Trisha, Prakash Raj, Kishore, Sarathkumar, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai and Jayaram are playing the lead roles. The film will hit the theaters on April 28.
