Pop singer Rosanna Rocci actually wanted to work on her summer tan – but instead she burned herself badly.
Rosanna Rocci made her breakthrough in the 1990s. Since then, the Italian pop singer, who also sings in German, has become an integral part of the industry and is a welcome guest on television and at music events. She recently performed at the “Night of German Schlager” in Mexico. Shortly before the event, however, she suffered severe sunburn.
“I got the worst sunburn of my life on the first day,” reports the musician to “Bild” and adds: “I lay on the beach in the blazing sun for six hours – without putting on any cream. That was a huge thing. Mistake!” She doesn’t use normal sunscreen “because I don’t let a chemical cocktail like that get on my skin,” but of course she uses oils with a sun protection factor. “Unfortunately I forgot my mixture at home,” says Rosanna Rocci.
“My skin was inflamed and burning”
The 55-year-old only realized how badly it had hit her in her hotel room. “I was red all over my face and body. I was totally frightened. My skin was inflamed and burning. I suddenly felt terribly cold.”
The sunburn caused such unpleasant symptoms that Rosanna Rocci was unable to leave the hotel room for the following days. She couldn’t perform because her feet burned badly, and when she touched her face “it felt like a razor blade.”
She still mastered the performance, but afterward her skin began to peel. “On the plane back to Germany, there were pieces of my skin lying around everywhere. That made me terribly uncomfortable. It continued at home too. I was shedding my skin like a reptile.” Rosanna Rocci emphasizes: “It won’t happen to me again.”
