Power cut in Anganwadi centers? Shocked by electricity notice Power cut in Anganwadi centers? Shocked by electrical notice

by time news

Tirupur: A ‘notice’ has been distributed on behalf of the power board regarding the disconnection of electricity connection while the departmental confusion continues in the payment of electricity bills for Anganwadi centers.

In Tamil Nadu, more than 50 thousand Anganwadi centers are functioning. The electricity bill for these was paid by the respective panchayat administrations till 2 months ago, as household charges. Currently, the electricity tariff for Anganwadi centers has been changed to ‘2A’ and 100 units of free electricity have been cancelled.

A charge of Rs 8 per unit is fixed. As a result, the panchayat administration did not pay the electricity bill. In this case, on behalf of the Electricity Board, a ‘Notice’ has been distributed giving seven days time to pay the electricity bill. It is also indicated that ‘in case of mistake, the power connection will be disconnected’.

Responsibility rests with Social Welfare Department

Officials of the Rural Development Agency said:

The Rural Development Agency’s job is to construct and maintain Anganwadi buildings. Electricity bill should be paid by social welfare department.

As 100 units of electricity were provided free of charge, most of the Anganwadi centers did not incur electricity bills; In some centres, only a small amount had to be paid. At present, as the electricity bill for the Anganwadi buildings is collected for commercial use, the panchayat administrations cannot spend that amount. The social welfare department has to pay.

Thus, they said.
