Premier Padel Tour Lands in London, Marking UK Debut with Sela Partnership

Premier Padel is expanding its global footprint with its first-ever event in the United Kingdom, thanks to a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabian events company Sela. The tournament, a P1 level competition – the second-highest tier on the tour below the Majors – will be held in London, signaling a significant step in the sport’s international growth.

The arrival of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour in the UK underscores the increasing popularity of padel worldwide. The event is poised to capitalize on London’s robust sporting infrastructure and passionate fanbase.

Sela Drives Expansion, LTA Provides Key Support

The expansion into the UK is being facilitated by Sela, a Saudi Arabian events company with a clear vision for elevating the sporting experience. The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), the national governing body for padel in the UK, is also playing a crucial role in the tournament’s delivery.

According to a company release, a senior official stated, “Bringing the world’s leading professional tour to the UK with Sela reflects the importance of its position in the global sporting landscape. London offers an unparalleled opportunity for the global expansion of Premier Padel – offering a world-class venue, a passionate fanbase and strong sporting commercial strength.”

A Benchmark for Padel in the UK

Sela International CEO Stewart Hosford emphasized the ambition behind bringing the P1 tournament to London. “Bringing a Premier Padel P1 tournament to London is a major statement of intent for Sela and Premier Padel,” Hosford said. “We want to create incredible experiences across sport and entertainment, and this event will set a new benchmark for padel in the UK. Our long-term commitment, combined with the recent transformation of Olympia and the support of the LTA, gives us a unique opportunity to build something exceptional for fans, athletes and the wider sporting community.”

LTA Aims to Inspire Grassroots Growth

The LTA views the tournament as a catalyst for further growth of padel at all levels within Britain. Scott Lloyd, CEO of the LTA, explained, “We’re pleased to support Sela and Premier Padel in bringing this landmark event to London. Padel is growing rapidly across Britain, and bringing an elite level event to this country will help strengthen the sport from grassroots participation to professional players. By providing a showcase of the highest level of the sport, we hope this tournament will inspire even more people to try padel for the first time.”

The event promises to be a significant moment for padel in the UK, offering a platform to showcase the sport’s leading professionals and cultivate a new generation of players and fans.
