President Zhelensky has issued a stern warning to the Ukrainian public ahead of Russia’s planned victory celebrations this weekend.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold Victory Day celebrations in the capital, Moscow. Rehearsals are currently underway for the celebrations, which will take place on May 9.

Russia is said to be using the opportunity to demonstrate its nuclear and military capabilities. In this context, Ukrainian officials have warned that Russian forces could increase missile and air strikes on the relevant day.

In addition, President Zhelensky called on the public to adhere to curfew and public order.

Moreover, in the days leading up to Russia’s Victory Day celebrations, Zhelensky called on the Ukrainian people not to ignore airstrikes.

“Understand that your life is important,” he said, urging people to be vigilant about their children’s future.

He also warned that people were barred from entering areas occupied by Russia and that Russia may have planted landmines in those areas.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that many people, including women, children and the elderly, have been released from a Russian-held iron factory in Mariupol.
