Problems in housing policy have not been resolved

by time news

Berlin – The results of the explorations by the SPD, the Greens and the Left on future housing policy have met with criticism. The Berlin tenants’ association (BMV) said on Monday that it did not see several “problem points” resolved. “Berlin currently has a mathematical deficit of at least 70,000 apartments,” said BMV managing director Reiner Wild. It is right that the new state government wants to work on reducing this deficit. However, the tenants’ association misses “a clear focus on the specific need for new rental apartments for medium and low incomes and the clear commitment to maintaining affordable living space”.
