The Minister of Culture of Belarus Anatoly Markevich introduced the new general director to the staff of the National Library. The head of the “Belarusian society “Knowledge””, the former dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Belarusian State University and a regular guest of Belarusian and Russian television broadcasts Vadim Gigin, became the winner.
The Minister of Culture drew attention to the fact that when organizing work, the new head will need to solve the following tasks: personnel security, the formation of a professional team, strengthening the material base, reviewing the structure and staffing of the library, creating an automated system “Electronic Library” and methodological support and ensuring control over the activities of public country libraries.

Her predecessor is Roman Motulsky – worked at the National Library from 2003 to 2021.
