Prostate cancer: “I suspected: if he has it, then I have it too”

WORLD: You hid your diagnosis from within your family. How so?

Uli Roth: In his case it was found out during the gastrointestinal endoscopy, he was struck by lightning. For me it was more of a gradual process. At the same time, our mother was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and on top of that, our parents had planned a golden wedding anniversary and a huge family celebration. The tragedy was so great that I didn’t say anything to anyone for four weeks. Only my brother knew about it, but he was on a regeneration holiday on Fuerteventura at the time.
